A girl, a tattoo, and a bespoke portrait session with Ashtyn Jade Productions in Utah County

Elizabeth provided incredible inspiration by way of a deeply meaningful tattoo, one she happened to design herself.

To honor and incorporate the emotions that her tattoo evokes, I gathered a variety of dark, moody florals — oversized and visually heavy, representative of difficult thoughts that sometimes spill and overflow. The custom headpiece grew in stages and phases and when complete, blends three separate portions. (If you look closely, you’ll see a few variations in the BTS video above.)

What resonates most for me is the concept that even within the darkest and heaviest moments of life, beauty still blooms.
